I, Robot and Religion

Watched I, Robot recently. Of course a pirated version. It hasn't been realeased yet. However, will definitely watch it in the theater. It is good. Will be even better on a larger screen and with better sound effects. Anyway, I am not going to review the movie. I just want to talk about it and religion :)

What so what is the connection between the movie and religion. In the movie Viki never voilated the three laws. Not according to her. Laws are not absolute. People can interpret differently. That is what links what I have to say with religion.

Many people claim, my religion is the final. The ultimate. The words (laws) of my religion come directly from God. To them I want to say, may be they do. However, what they mean is being interpreted by us, humans. I don't think we are perfect and we can always interpret it differently.

The three laws in I, Robot were absolute and from the Creator or designer. However, Viki interpreted in her own way. We can see this was not the way the Creator wanted them to be interpreted. Sure the laws may be right however, the interpretations made by the creations don't have to be necessarily right.

So all those religions fanatics out there, things can always be interpreted to suit yourself. Hence, I don't believe any religious text is complete or ultimate. Most rules of religion are rules of the day based on the values that are acceptable at the current time, and as time changes these values change. Hence I believe religions should adapt and change to these changing values. I am sure many things that people in the past would never accept are accepted now. Fundamentally, I believe every thing is acceptable as long as it does not harm some one.
