The movie, A Beautiful Mind, is definitely one of my favourites. Remember the speech Prof. John Nash, Russell Crowe, gives when he receives the Nobel Prize. Real romantic one. Well, it turns out that it is fiction. Anyway, I am going to watch the movie again to get speech. Who knows I might just need it for my Nobel Prize :D
Basically the pen ceremony at Princeton and the Nobel Prize Speech are fictional parts in the movie. Princeton used to had some pages on this but the link is now broken.
December 16, what a day: with such highs and lows it definitely was tiring.
Pushkar had called, he was submitting his ACT Coursework Part 2 today and had asked me to come over and help him out. Basically, I spent the morning working with Pushkar. When all the three cases were working, we were back at my room for breakfast at 14:00!
The first news of the day. Buba was not able to find the document I had sent for the foreign exchange. Wonder why I wasn't surprised! I don't know why I had a feeling of something similar happening, so I had taken two copies of the letter of attendance from the college. The question now was how to send it. FedEx still takes a week and I needed the draft back soon to avoid the fine from the college. Fax! Well, I can think of nothing. The only nice thing was having the second copy. May be at £500 I over reacted?!
Back at college, Pushkar was searching for Mr. Danny to return the course work submission while I was busy on the chat. Rehan, Moeen and Aminul were there too. All of us were going over to Ali's place. It was around 17:00 when we move from the lab with Pushkar finally sliding his submission through the door. Since we had been invited around 15:30 all of us were trading accusations as to who was responsible for the delay. Hmm, it definitely was I who wanted to submit or chat :D
Traveling in London is always an expensive business. As we sat trying to decide between a single ticket and a day-card Pushkar suggested why bother? There were five of us and three passes, we could reuse them. "Are you serious?" I thought. "Sure you might go through here, then we still have to get out." As usual Pushkar with his responses, "£$@## @@!" was ready with it.
Rehan and Moeen gave Aminul and me the passes. We went through with Pushkar then he returned with passes for them. Five minutes later we were on the tube to South Ealing. Another big drama, this time with Moeen doing it, to get out of South Ealing. You think that was something? Well, you haven't even heard the rest of the day!
The party turned out to be Ali's birthday party. May be when you are small having a birthday party and being the centre of attention is fun. However, when one is older, I always find it odd being the centre of attention. Feel clownish! Wonder if Ali were feeling the same with all of saying such nice things about him :D No, we were not paid to say all the nice things about him, were we Ali? At least, I didn't get my share of the payment. No, the food wasn't a bribe. Hmm, come to think of it, I wonder why he offered the food first!?
With so much experience at all the career presentations it was no wonder that we were able to gobble up all the food in no time. Yup, all of us definitely learnt something at Imperial.
What now? You know, especially with us around, eating food takes only so much of the time. Now sitting around like decent people and chatting about the weather definitely isn't our virtue. Of course, chats about girls seems to be the exception. Do they stretch the whole night!
Bowling! Let's go bowling. I don't have anything against bowling. The only problem is that it meant going to Central London and I didn't have a pass. I didn't want to go through all the pass routine again. Hey, it is fun doing it once, certianly not the default mode of traveling. Oh no! this time it was a different method.
No more going in batches, we would just walk in together. The first person would put the card on the sensor preventing it from detecting discontinuity till the second person would come out. Nice idea but because of some unplanning and not knowing who all had cards and who didn't it ended up being that some of us without card were left outside.
Ah! what could we do but buy the tickets. I might as well buy a day pass, I thought. Hmm, now it certainly would be quite expensive traveling to zone 1. Anyway, I put the card in the vending machine! That was the last I saw of the card. To make it worse, I didn't have any cash with me! Definitely the lowest point in my day! Luckily Sanj lent me some cash to get through for the evening.
Trocodero wasn't bad. However, with all the smoking going in the pool and bar section, I didn't feel like staying around much. It was already giving me a headache. I left early with Pushkar and Aminul wanted to go out for awhile. Well, guess all had fun bowling.
Hmm, may be I am not really doing the right thing trying to chat as well as write this post. So I guess I need to squeeze a little. Hmm, anyway, the important part about late night dinner at Ali's is definitely important. The card game and the music videos of Pushkar and Ali are not to be missed. Now that is reminder enough, I think I will post something about them later. Ok, can't ignore the flashing chat windows anymore.
