Just love Gentoo. I was so happy with my Gentoo installation on the Linux router/common computer that I decided to use it on my laptop, a Sony VAIO PCG Z600HEK. I was thinking of totally getting rid of Windows XP on my laptop and puttng Mandrake 10. I have used quite a few versions of Mandrake over the last year and a half and had preferred it to RedHat. Never really tried Fedora.
With a great installation on the server, I wanted Gentoo on my laptop too. I had been reading about Gentoo on the Sony VAIOs and Z600 in particular. I knew it would have some issues but in general work pretty well. I would definitely have a usable system.
Of course there were problems, and not all of them have been sorted out, but I already have a working Gentoo installation on my laptop and I am loving it [Sorry McDonald ;)]. I will definitely be posting a separate page "report" on it, along with the usual photo of the laptop as the tradition goes ;). Meanwhile, if any one can tell me why the Intel driver e100 doesn't reset when I reboot I would love to hear from you. Works fine if I turn off the computer and then turn it on.
Hopefully, I will have a more detailed post soon.
